I have cable internet. I want to change my IP address. I have asked this questions to many people they are not giving clear solution. I need a free software that can change IP address and that too easily. I used HideIP trial software but it cannot change IP when I check in http://aboutip.info or any other site. I do not want a trial software solution. Is there anybody who can help me?

Helps to know what Operating System you are talking about.

Is this a Windows product? For Windows XP...
Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Network Connections...
Right-click on your connection and select Properties from the menu.

From this dialog, select the TCP/IP protocol and select Properties.

That is where you can change it if it is static. If it is Dynamic, you need to go to the DHCP server. What it is usually doing is holding that address for you for x amount of time. Therefore, even though you do "ipconfig /release... ipconfig /renew", you will still get back the same IP from the DHCP server.

For UNIX and Linux, there are several ways. Tell me what OS and I will give instructions.

Hope this may help you in explaining and solving your question.

Question:
Can we change our IP addresses when we are already connected to the internet,
And what are the methods?

Answer:
Not really, for 2 reasons.

ONE--- Your ISP controls the assigning of IP address. If your IP is not a static one then you would need to logout and then back in again to get a new IP. Of course if it is static your out of luck anyway.

TWO---changing the IP in most operating systems means rebooting the computer.

You could switch proxies (if your using a proxy) while connected to the internet, but this only appears to change your IP to a 3rd party, it dosen't change your real IP.

Question:
I am using a non-static ISP, with no proxies,
can i change my ip (obviously for 3rd party) and how?

Answer:
You can only change your IP address by logging out and then by logging back in again. Since the ISP controls which IP addresses are usable on their network you can only change it by having the ISP assign a new one when you relogin. (which is why static IP addresses won't work since they are never reassigned)

Using a proxy is the only way you can change how your IP appears to a third party you connect to. However, your real IP can't be changed by using a proxy and anyone connnecting to you must use your real IP. There are lots of list of free proxies, doing a Google lookup of "free proxies" will take you to them. These lists aren't always up to date, so it might take some time to find a working proxy to use.

There are also anonymous web surfing services that you can buy into that help you surf the web anonymously. ( they hide your real IP by using their own proxies to let you surf the net.)

Belong to each other."
