| | | | I briefly used the other option of the voice and webcam that this site has to offer. I have used many other programs out there and to Me it seemed a little confusing to use at first. Apparently you cant hear more than two people at once if your not a member which is fine but more than one person shouldnt be able to talk at all I think people would be talking over each other. Also perhaps give the option of user created rooms?
If it is possible to change that. I know it is in fact at Beta.

| *depositing My nickel's worth of voice chat info*
I kinda like more than one person being able to talk. I only wish I could hear more than 4 at a time-- I am rather greedy that way.
But it would be nice if there was a trouble shooting link in the room for folks to learn from-- it would make it less stressful for them. Including why people may hear echoes if they use speakers, clicking and unclicking mics & cams.
Is it possible to 'hear' more than four even is We can only 'see' 4 cams?
Also when I send a PM to someone, it doesnt 'unclick' so I have to remove the 'Private" check box each time I post publicly. Can we make it so that the public is the default?
Thanks!

| | | | | The BIGGEST pain in the arse is the dropdown mwnu for PMing. Because the cam windows are set where they are, you cannot highlight the name you're looking for to send a PM.
i liked the old style where the cam windows were up TOP. That kept us from having that problem.
i also think another addition should be that when a person speaks, their box or nickname on the list lights up. It gets kind of tiresome having to repeat over and over again which person is talking at which time. |
| | | | | I don't like the only 4 people at one time at all. I'm not one of these people that click to ignore people in the room because I'm that nosy I like to read what everyone is saying. I certainly don't want to selectively choose to only hear 4 people talking. I also agree there needs to be some way to know who said what, that was very confusing, even if it was only 4 people I had to choose from *L I'm fine with only being able to see 4 cams, there's probably only 4 people or less I would even want to see live on here *grin* ok...just kidding hehe |

| Well, there are technical issues to consider: more than 4 folks at a time (at least with web cams, probably not as much with the audio) means a LOT of data streaming.
As for hearing more than one person at a time, well, folks chat more than one at a time, and lately we've been stress testing the place a few times and it doesn't seem too problematic. At least, when myself, NT, putty, bss, and keltie gave it a whirl it seemed to do well. Puter was in there listening too, chatting and listening to the feeds, and he seemed to be responding in time so it went well. PW was there as well fi memory serves.
Anyone else have any concerns? I hear the design thing, but I -think-.... don't know but think... you can maneuver the webcam windows to where you want them. I'll have to look again...

| The video chat we have was semi-canned software I purchased as I had little time to work on a version myself so there is nothing I can do to change that current setup.
I am hoping to do away with the current version this year and develop a version integrated with the current HTML based chat.
Thanks for the feedback though. I think what we'll do with v2 is have two separate features.. a voice option (where multiple people can chat at once and not just four) and a web cam option that will have a limit (due to bandwidth).
Unfortunately the r/t job I have takes a LOT of my time up (and has done for the past three years) so this won't happen overnight but I'm hoping to do a lot with the site this year including moving DarkPines to its own domain and making The Pork a truly "adult" site. |
| | | | | webcamnow had used a program called uniperson which was actually a really good program however there were no webcam capabilities to go along with it and it was easily altered by "hackers"
Its a shame I know nothing about creating one otherwise Id take the time and do it myself.

| | | | | so, through pressing buttons, so to speak, we figured out how to do one on one chat
the Communicator option in the drop down menu of each user name on your list will open up a private screen, with one on one voice, webcam and text dialogue window
I think the authorization error is due to already having the max open (2 or 4 people) when you try to start Communicator So you have to drop someone to open it
Also, if you're having public conversations when you open Communicator, they can all hear you still unless you either leave the main voice chat room (you stay in the Communicator) or you block everyone in the main room, and then block every person that comes in afterwards, which is cumbersome |

Yea.. there are a few issues with the web cam chat but it was the closest to what I wanted for the site.
I will be jumping back in with new development for The Pork soon (I have a couple of projects wrapping up at work soon) and voice/video chat is near the top of the list.
I think we just need a simple version integrated with the HTML based chat instead of having a completely separate area.

| | | | | Voice chat works pretty well for me.
I also would like to see more than four talking at aonce. I think 6 would be a good number. It might be to hard to listen and follow conversations if there were ten or 15 talking all at once.
I think the room can get overloaded as well. I could not hear someone so a few of us moved to another room and we could hear each other fine.
I tred to use the communicator thin and got a error message.
The echo can be a killer at times and I can not seem to fix it. There can be a voice delay as well.
Over all though, it is a great system. |
