Hey all! I finally have my new upcoming book Leather & Lace ready and in the process of being edited! It's a romance novel by genre and is a love story about a woman from Minnesota that gets tired of life being so boring there, and with the advice of a close friend of hers, moves down to Cedarville, Colorado. There she meets stunningly handsome and rustic Horse Rancher Austin McBride. They begin a whirlwind love affair that becomes more than either expected. It may be a little while, but for your reading pleasure, here is an excerpt from the book. I hope you enjoy.

He came up behind her and opened his mouth to say something, but words seemed to elude him. His hands started to sweat and hear rushed through him, but he wiped them off on his jeans, struggled a bit with his composure to regain his cool, then with a breath he tried again.

"Mornin' ma'am, how are you doin' today?" Austin drawled as he did his best to casually stroll up to this picturesque model of feminine beauty.

Lacey nearly died as she heard the deep baritone of his voice, the sound of that lazy deep country drawl, and the light gravel she could hear in it, the very tone of it made her shiver and her heart flutter all over again. She did her best to control herself and not let her attraction be too obvious as she turned to face him. Her stomach went all gooey again as her womanhood began to flood with desire, her wetness all but soaking her panties and her musk only hidden by the perfume that she wore, and just barely at that. She braced herself as best she could so she could try to speak, but the closer he got, the more his manly scent entranced her, making her mind into a pile of mush. He smelled of cedar and musk, and smooth yet spicy cologne that sent shivers up her back and shudders of anticipation through her belly. This man was too delicious, too tempting, too.... everything, and she began to wonder if she would make it through this conversation without silently exploding in orgasm right there in the store in front of him.

With a shaky voice that she forced to cooperate, she replied with as sweet a voice as she could, managing to muster up enough self-restraint to sound friendly.

"Oh, good morning! Yes, I'm doing pretty good, thanks. How are you doing?" She asked as she placed a jar of strawberry preserves in her basket.

"I'm not doing too bad her myself, thanks for askin'. So, are you new here to town?"

"Is it that obvious?" She blushed and chuckled a bit to herself as her mind began to wander, her imagination daydreaming up different scenarios of him holding her in those powerful arms, his hard body pressed up against hers, those hard thin lips crushing against hers in a kiss that would surely leave them breathless and gasping for air. She shook her head, mentally slapping some sense back into herself.

"Naw, It's just that with this being a small town and all, everybody quite literally knows everybody. So an unfamiliar face isn't hard to pick out around here." Austin gave this girl his most reassuring smile, wanting her to feel relaxed and at ease here.

She returned the smile earnestly, feeling a little bashful all of a sudden and a bit silly.

"So, when did you get into town?" Austin asked, genuinely curious.

"Just a few weeks or so ago. I moved into the cutest house just down the road. Oh, by the way, my name is Lacey, Lacey Moore." Lacey extended her hand, a spark of.... something lighting her eyes.

Austin took it without pause and kissed the top of it, flashing a charming smile that made her heart race and flutter like a flight of butterflies.

"I'm Austin McBride, and it is a pleasure to meet you. So Lacey, where did you move from?"

"I’m from Minnesota, up by the twin cities. Yeah, I came down here because I needed a change of scenery, but really I just needed to get away. A friend of mine said that this place would be good for me to detox from all the bullshit that I was living in. The city life just got to be too much for me, so I figured I'd try the small town life and live out by the country and see where it takes me." Lacey spoke enthusiastically as she continued her shopping, allowing Austin to walk with her.

Jim leaned back as he watched and smiled to himself, chuckling and shaking his head as he went over the list, making mental note of which ones would take some time, which ones would most likely be special order, and which ones he had in storage that he'd be able to pull out and ready as soon as possible.

"Ahhh, so how do you like it so far? Is it what you've come to expect or at least hope for?

"It's nice. The people here are really friendly, the air is clean, there's hardly any noise, and best of all I can even see the stars at night. It's so beautiful, that when you look at it, it just takes your breath away." Lacey spoke almost reverently, the sweetest smile lighting up her face as she spoke.

"That's good to hear, I'm glad you like it. So, now that you are here, are you lookin' for a job or somethin' like that?"

"Yeah, somethin' like that. But I'm not really too sure what jobs are available around here. And it's not like I'm in some sort of rush either, nor am I really hurting for money so far. I’m just kinda takin' it easy."

"Well, do you like horses?" Austin was really interested now, and if she did like horses, then it was almost as good as done. This was it, no significant other to speak of from what Jim said, but then again gossip was hardly ever credible information to base anything on other than assumption. Things were sounding promising, but it wouldn't do to get too over-interested in her. You never knew when some unpleasant surprise would pop out of the wood works.

"Yeah, I love horses! As a matter of fact, my grandparents used to own a couple stables up in Dellwood. I practically grew up around horses. Do you have a lot? I just love being around them, there's nothing more soothing or relaxing than riding a good natured horse out in the fields. They are just enchanting and lovely creatures!" Lacey was really excited now. A cute guy, a quiet town, horses, friendly people, a clear night sky with stars what more could a freedom seeking girl want?

"Well then Lacey, I suppose that today is your lucky day. I t just so happens that I own a horse ranch just outside of town, about an hour's ride from here. If you want, I'd be more that happy to bring you down and show you around. I just happen to also be needing ranch hands for the coming horse shows at the end of this fall. Would you be interested?" Austin asked, extending her a most generous offer. It wasn't every day that people got to come to the McBride Ranch and look around on a tour, or even have the opportunity to ride some of the horses. But then again, this exquisitely lovely woman had more than captured his attention, and he wanted to see just how far he could take this, and how far she would be willing to go.

"I'd love to, absolutely! But, are you sure? I mean, I don't want to be a bother or anything. I'm sure that you are very busy and I don't want to step on any toes or get in the way at all." Lacey replied, feeling a bit shy and reluctant to accept such a generous invitation.

"Hey, it's no trouble at all, really. Besides, I would be honored if someone as truly lovely and beautiful as you would grace my ranch with your presence." Austin leaned forward, his hand over his heart as his other cupped the curve of her soft and slender shoulder, coaxing her as gently and directly as possible without being too intrusive.

Lacey blushed and giggled, flirtatiously swinging her hair back and tucking her hip length tresses behind her ear. She looked up at him, those big brown eyes of his meeting her own and felt a searing heat from them that she couldn't quite describe. She felt light headed and a bit dizzy, his nearness throwing her fully off balance and plunging her into a feeling where the entire world was a hazy blur, everything else disappearing except for them. Her mind tried to form thoughts, but almost all her efforts were in vain and slowly but surely, her self-control and willpower was waning.

Who was this Austin McBride, and how was it that he could make her feel this way just from being no more than a few feet from her? That his gaze could make her blood race, her body shudder with an aching need and desire that begged to be quenched and his touch have an electricity that was too yummy to ignore. He was gorgeous beyond comprehension and was the very definition of masculinity in every way. Hell, the man oozed sex appeal from practically every pore! And the way that he looked at her with that sort of appraising and hungry gaze left her tingling all over.

Lacey breathed heavily, her ample bosom heaving with the effort and she pulled her senses with all her might back to the conversation, but damn was it hard when he just looked so... damn... good.

"Why thank you, I appreciate it. Are you gonna be around later?" Lacey unwittingly flashed that heart stopping smile of hers and Austin's heart thudded in his chest so loudly, he was afraid that Lacey would hear it.

"Uh, yeah... I'll be around later on today or tomorrow to pick up my supplies. Why? What's up?" Austin absently smoothed back his long shoulder length hair, raking it into place with his fingers.

Lacey's eyes watched the movement, then caught the sight of his ripped muscles flex and shift beneath his tight skin and felt her mouth water. Her panties were all but soaked and she could even feel some of the collected moisture form a slight trickle of fluid down the inside of her thigh. She gulped visibly and tried to inconspicuously rub her thighs together to hide the embarrassing display of her more than obvious arousal.

"Well, when I got into town, my friend told me that there was a town fair here that was going to be going on, and I was wondering if you would be my date? I don't know if that's how it usually goes or what, and I know that it's kinda forward, but you are so far the only person I know." Lacey's face flushed with color, feeling like a teenager in Junior High all over again with a crush on a cute boy.
