I like Elvis Presley's version the best

How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

saiya,

Thanks for your reply. I believe he honored his upbringing that his Mother instilled in him.

Elvis was surrounded by two circles of influence, his fellow musicians, I especially loved his practice singing sessions he did in Gospel fashion with The Jordanaires. And then you had his inner circle at the Presley Mansion who fed off of him and were very responsible for the drug taking and Elvis's destruction. They kept Priscilla at a distance and that peer group was ruinous, especially the drug doctor who prescribed Elvis's death.

Peace,
ML

-chuckles and thinks of a certain Person or two-

i always preferred the gospel Elvis over the TCB jerk he turned into.

Loved the Gospel Elvis, and the words he that came out of his mouth. You truly believed HE believed what he was saying....at times I think he did. Its a shamed he changed. Lost a good person with good morals when he fell to fame, showing off in public, and the shallow adoration of those who did not have his best interests at heart.

Listen to the live version of Chris Tomlin's "How Great is Our God." He incorporates How Great Thou Art on the version on the 2005 Live from Austin CD.

It's incredible.
