tech idiot allert tech idiot allert
is there a site somewhere that will help a complete tech idiot figure out what things he should look for in a computer for himself That isn't selling anything
what I'd like is some unbiased information before I start looking at the different computer dealers.

Lap Tops are not like cars, - in fact in many cases they examplify the total opposite of a new car; in their cases, the more mileage - the better they are. If size and weight, color or model don't matter, you are in for a great surprize. There are trade ins, return leases, sell outs, - in fact they are there for every reason you can imagine and up to 97% are good, as good as a new one with the one difference, 75% cheaper.
I had the opportunity to buy a second hand one which I strictly use in my car, - on the road. I purchased a 1 year old Siemens loaded with the most important software. I bought a Siemens with a 17.4" Wide Screen Cel M 5.86GHz 1024MB 120GB DVD DL WiFi Vista. For US$599.00! With it for free I got a keyborad with stealth mouse (I hate to type on a lap top), a mini printer and a net card with a free 2 year subsciption with Tiscali.it and it works extremely well. My lap top weighs less than 4.5 lbs, it comes with leather carrying case and adopters, and it's designed for hard use.
