| | | | | As of early this afternoon, RCP is reporting five polls with results through 10/5 (the others are all through 9/30 or 9/29). Those 5 polls show:
Gallup Tracking 10/03 - 10/05 2744 RV 50 42 Obama +8 Rasmussen Tracking 10/03 - 10/05 3000 LV 52 44 Obama +8 Hotline/FD Tracking 10/03 - 10/05 909 LV 47 41 Obama +6 Democracy Corps (D) 10/01 - 10/05 1000 LV 49 46 Obama +3 GW/Battleground Tracking 09/30 - 10/05 800 LV 50 43 Obama +7
Average is Obama +6.4. Take out the one outlier (Democracy Corps at 3%) and the average of the other four is Obama +7.3
It is pretty clear now that there was a post VP debate Palin effect - and that it was negative.
Both Gallup and Rasmussen now have Obama at +8.
Rasmussen, FOX News' pollsters, says this today:
Monday, October 06, 2008 Email to a FriendAdvertisement The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 52% of the vote while John McCain earns 44%. This is the highest level of support ever recorded for Obama and is his largest lead of the year. It also continues a remarkable twenty-five days in a row where the Democrat’s support has never declined by even a single point.
As for the Presidential race, Obama now leads by two points among men. That’s the first time he has led among men all year and he also enjoys a fourteen point advantage among women. Obama attracts 12% of Republican voters and leads by eleven among those not affiliated with either major political party. McCain gets the vote from 11% of Democrats (see other recent demographic highlights).
It is worth noting that Obama’s lead is now bigger than any lead enjoyed at any point by either candidate in Election 2004.
As always it will be interesting to see the impact if any of this weeks debate and the new NHB negative attack strategy of McCain's.
