I saw a brief clip on Fox News this morning about smoking in movies. Apparently there are some who want to ban smoking in movies because it's too influencial on teenagers. And since most smokers start smoking before they are 18 this would deter kids from starting to smoke.
Another example of political correctness gone crazy. Many state governments have unconstitutionally (in my opinion) forced privately owned business establishments to ban smoking and now even Hollywood is under attack.
We all know that smoking is unhealthy and potentially fatal. But let's think about all the other things we see in successful movies:
Drugs Murder Rape Alcohol
Now if those easily influenced teenagers start smoking because it's what they see in movies then it only makes sense to eliminate drugs, murder, rape and and alcohol as well right? And what about guns? Those evil pieces of hardware that kill people. How many movies do we see without the use of any guns? Damn few.

As of now this anti smoking group wants an 'R' rating for any movies with smoking and no brand name 'advertising' in the movie. However I'm not so naive that I believe it will end there.
The politically correct are a patient group.......one step at a time. It will not end with stamping an R rating on a movie. They'll go after those movies in due time.

if they are so "offended", tell them not to spend their money on that movie. Next thing you will see is them asking to limit people's personal rights and tell us we can't drink water in the sunlight...where is this bs going to end?
